Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of your eyelids. Whether you want to improve your appearance or are experiencing functional problems with your eyelids, eyelid surgery can rejuvenate the area surrounding your eyes.
WHY EYELID SURGERY
Blepharoplasty restores a youthful definition to your eyelids by removing bulging fat and excess skin and sculpting your eyelids. Added benefits of eyelid surgery include reducing dark circles, under eye bags and removing lines and wrinkles we naturally acquire with age. The result is a more defined and youthful appearance.
WHAT EYELID SURGERY CAN TREAT
- Loose or sagging skin that creates folds of the upper eyelid
- Skin that disturbs the natural contour and crows feet
- Fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the eyelids
- Excess skin hooding the upper eyelid impairing vision
- Excess skin that causes headaches from muscle tension
EYELID SURGERY RECOVERY
During your eyelid surgery recovery, lubricating ointment and cold wet compresses may be applied and Tylenol may be taken if there is any discomfort after your procedure is completed. Head elevation when lying down can also enhance healing and relieve discomfort.
You will be given specific post-operative instructions that include how to care for your eyes and medications to apply or take orally to aid healing. Detailed information is included on how to clean the surgical site until suture removal and when to follow-up with your plastic surgeon. Following your post-operative instructions is essential to the success of your surgery. It is important that the surgical incisions not be subjected to excessive force, abrasion, or motion during the time of healing.
Sutures will be removed 10-14 days after surgery. The final results will be evident in 3-6 months.
EYELID SURGERY RESULTS
RESULTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES, WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT:
The results of eyelid surgery will be long lasting. While there usually is little pain involved in this surgery, there can be swelling or bruising. Most patients are presentable to the public in 10-14 days. However, it may take a few months before final healing is completed.
While eyelid surgery can be expected to correct certain conditions permanently, you will continue to age naturally. Ongoing sun protection will help to maintain your results. Although good results are expected from your procedure, there is no guarantee. With some patients it may not be possible to achieve optimal results with a single surgical procedure and another surgery may be necessary.
PATIENT
TESTIMONIAL*
“Over the past couple of years I have been so impressed with both the professionalism and results that I’ve seen at LCM. They’re focused on patient care and comfort, and it makes a world of difference compared to other places I’ve visited. They’re not cheap, but it’s worth it to know that you’ll be in capable hands every time.”
